<aside> ℹ️ What is this template? This template is a data dictionary of names, definitions, formulas of data elements used throughout your organization’s reports. It’s important to keep a centralized repository of this definition to ensure that there is consistency in the use of a data element across various reports and dashboards.

Why use this template? Sometimes a data dictionary is only built for one analytics platform, but users may pull and mash up the data with other data sources that have a different way of measuring the result (when does a session start and end?).

Sometimes a report becomes inaccurate because of a metric no longer being measured correctly. The data owner or data custodian of the metric may need to review all reports that use the same metric to clean up the error.

How is this template set up? This template consists of 3 databases linked together:

• a Metrics Database
• a Reports and Dashboards database … a Report and Dashboard may have 1 or more metric elements
• an Incidents database … a Metric can have 1 or more related incidents … a Report and Dashboard may have 1 or more related incidents as well
